Controls for vehicles can be a bit spotty, but otherwise serviceable. While graphically the game isn’t a looker, it does well enough to give players the sense of the open farm land and view distance. As an established up and coming farmer, it would seem this is the way towards future grow, but it’s really all up to players to decide how to run their farm, regardless if it’s efficient or not. If players don’t want to accomplish harvesting manually, as cathartic as it can be, they can also pay to hire folks to do the work. Starting the farm, building up resources and buying newer and better equipment. The systems at play here all work under time and money. There is something so satisfying about cutting down trees with a hand saw, and later being able to get huge equipment to do the work. Eventually they obtain some farm animals, and even the ability to cut down trees and harvest wood. Players will be plowing dirt, planting seed, watching it grow, harvesting, dumping it for distribution, rinsing and repeating. There are a ton of icons showing what buildings house which equipment or farming needs. The first few hours were spent just getting accustomed to the map. For new players this can be very intimidating, and if folks don’t take the time to play around on their own, exploring the farm and how the eco system works, they can come away frustrated. Life is hard and there are two maps to play on, starting off with little to no money depending on what difficulty picked. While there is a tutorial that covers some very basics, once players have finished that, they are free to do as they see fit for their farm. Drop your suspenders, sit in your laziest comforter, and grab the controller because you got some work to do.įarming isn’t easy in real life, and getting started in Simulator 15 isn’t either. Farming Simulator 15 is here and is the first version to drop on current gen consoles. Granted, if you ever had the need to farm and farm hard, look no further. If you ever had the need for speed, Farming Simulator 15 might not be a game that would interest you. You can even see and do things like LB, DP UP, which would mean holding the left shoulder button and pressing up on the directional pad.I’ve never really dived into the previous Farming Simulator games, and this is my first plough through the series. this works with buttons too, so RB, B means pressing right shoulder button and B at the same time does something different than just pressing B or RB by itself. in this case it would be, while holding the left shoulder button on the controller and moving the left stick up and down, this happens, but without the left shoulder button held in, moving this left stick up and down does something else. Since farming simulator allows you to assign buttons as modifiers you may see combinations in the options like LB, LS-Y. The triggers in farming sim register as a single axis so they're just labeled TR, but in other applications you may see this listed as a Z axis, but you don't need to worry about it here.įinally if you see RS or LS listed in the options without an axis associated with it, this is for when the stick is clicked, pressed in, or depressed, like a button. so RS-X refers to the right stick moving left and right. so LS and RS stand for left stick and right stick and X and Y refer to left/right or up/down. So the xbox controller has two sticks and two triggers which makes for a total of i believe 6 analog axis. RS-X (for example) is similar but is an assignment for an analog axis. so in the options menu for controls if you press the A button while setting a binding, it says A in the options screen. but game designers who go an extra step like giants has done will have the buttons in the options actually say what's on the controller. Each of the buttons on the controller has a button number assigned to it, which is assigned by windows so button 1 will be button 1 in all games.
